Help me to do your will, for you are my God. Lead me in good paths, for your Spirit is good. Psalm 143:10, TLB
There were two occasions when both my husband and I felt the same little nudge.
The first nudge was to visit my mom on Mother’s Day, which was challenging because we were in the midst of building our home, and she lived fifteen hundred miles away. But we felt the Holy Spirit prompting us to go, so we went. We surprised Mom with a quick, but very sweet weekend. The smile on her face when she saw me remains a priceless blessing, because a few weeks later she passed away.
The second nudge was to visit my dad for Christmas, even though we had visited him over the summer and had plans to visit him again the following summer. But we again felt the Holy Spirit prompting us to go, so we went. My husband cooked Dad some of his favorite meals, including a big, traditional Christmas breakfast, and I baked him dozens of his favorite cookies. The smile on his face as he watched me mix the cookie dough remains a priceless blessing, because the following month he also passed away.
By listening to the little nudges, God blessed me with priceless memories.
Heavenly Father, you know the plans you have for me and they are good. As I make my plans, direct my steps, and give me a listening heart for your little nudges.
