For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
Eph 3:14-15 NKJV
Playing an old audio tape, I was transported to a long ago Christmas. Sweet voices of my now-passed mother and father, delighted squeals of children now adults, and my nephew’s violin voicing cries of men and angels: “Joy to the World! The Lord is come.” Dear ones’ faces glow in Christmas tree lights and delight at being remembered. Then the trek to the big table to partake of family love disguised as turkey, dressing, and savory dishes to delight heart and palate.
Two thousand years ago, a young couple began their family in a dirty, smelly stable where the sounds of angel choirs and shepherd’s awe mingled with neighs and brays of critters—and cries of a new born boy: Heaven’s gift to a dying planet.
Sadly for some, Christmas memories echo pain and loneliness. But the quoted verse reminds us the love, acceptance and belonging of family are God’s idea. That Father God desires every family, however imperfect, to taste of the Happiness of Heaven. That we can join His loving Heavenly Family where we will never be cast out, broken or abused.

Thank you Heavenly Father for sending Jesus to Earth to extend Heaven’s Family to us. To invite my family and all to join you and partake of the Happiness of Heaven now and forever.
