And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:13-14 (KJV)
This verse pops into my mind when I think of the Sounds of Christmas. “A multitude of heavenly host praising God…” would create a symphony so breathtaking and wonderful.
Today, Christmas sounds are different; children’s laughter, music and greetings from friends and strangers.
While we were stationed in Brussels, Belgium, and attended The International Baptist Church, the children’s musical for Christmas one year was titled “Christmas around the World.” All the children were dressed in costumes from around the world and songs were sung in English and French. Many of the children were from the country they represented and each child crossed the stage to say “Merry Christmas” in their language. It was very moving. Christmas means believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior no matter what language you speak, color of your skin, or where you live.
I look back on the time spent in Belgium and see my “Sounds of Christmas” were changed from the hustle and bustle of shopping, decorations and parties to a deeper meaning of God’s love for ALL of us around the world.
My Father God, thank you for opening my eyes to see your love for everyone believing in a small babe wrapped in cloth lying in a manger.
