“…yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:13 (NIV)
How do we rejoice in a hectic Christmas season, in the midst of turmoil, sorrow, suffering, loneliness or just plain boredom? Our life, our circumstances are not always joyful. God’s purpose in sending His Son was to set us free from sin and our circumstances, to give us life eternal. That includes “joy un- speakable and full of glory.” (1Pet. 1:8 KJV) So how do we do that?
R- Restore order and peace to your routine. Rest often. Remember to whom you belong.
E- Evaluate your schedule. Eliminate the unnecessary. Expect to have peace.
J- Just breathe. Joy needs space. Join friends and family to cele- brate.
O- Organize your shopping trips. Overhaul traditions that have lost meaning.
I- Initiate worship with the Lord. Include family in both the chores and the celebration.
C- Calm yourself by focusing on Christ. Call family instead of sending cards.
E-Embrace Emmanuel and experience true rejoicing.
If we approach this season with a determination and purpose to rejoice, the Lord will provide the ingredients and circumstances.
Lord, please fill our hearts with rejo icing and praise as we move toward the celebration of Jesus’ birth.
